Sandwell Local Plan Main Modifications
Overview
The Inspector examining the Sandwell Local Plan has recommended a number of Main Modifications which are required to make the Plan sound or legally compliant. This consultation seeks views on the Main Modifications.
Following the examination hearings of the Sandwell Local Plan in July and September 2025, the Inspector has, at the request of the Council, recommended a number of Main Modifications to the Plan which are put forward without any prejudice to the Inspectors final conclusions. Main Modifications are changes required to make the Plan sound or legally compliant in the light of issues identified during the examination.
This consultation is only for the proposed Main Modifications and no other parts of the plan. All responses to the consultation will be reviewed by the Inspector.
Consultation on the proposed Main Modifications for the Sandwell Local Plan opens from 9am on Monday 16 February 2026 until 5pm on Monday 30 March 2026.
Policies Map Modifications
The Council has also published proposed revisions to the Policies Map: Sandwell Local Policies Map - As proposed to be modified. These do not form part of the Main Modifications but are published alongside them.
Additional Modifications
Alongside the Main Modifications the Council also published a schedule of Additional Modifications
Additional Modifications are changes that, taken together, the Council considers do not materially affect the Plan and which it can therefore make when the Plan is adopted. These are minor changes and include factual updates and changes for consistency, clarity and corrections.
These Additional Modifications are not required to make the Plan sound and do not form part of the formal examination.
