Cradley Heath Pedestrian & Cycle Improvements 2025
Overview
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is pleased to share with you proposals for improved pedestrian and cycle facilities in and around Cradley Heath .
This follows the receipt of funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, called the Towns Fund, as part of the Government’s plan for Levelling Up the UK economy.
These proposals are intended to help link routes including Four Ways to the town centre and to the Bus and Rail interchange via Lower High Street.
It is intended that the traffic calming, improved crossing and cycle facilities will benefit highway safety and give residents the confidence to encourage greater use of sustainable travel modes including cycling and walking, which will in turn have positive impacts on air quality and the environment, as well as the health and wellbeing of residents who choose to walk and cycle. The improvements will consist of:
- 20mph zone on High St and Upper High St.
- Improved cycle facility on Upper High Street.
- Upgraded pedestrian crossing facilities and traffic calming on High Street, including additional Zebra crossing.
- Upgraded pedestrian and cycle crossing on Corngreaves Road.
- Traffic calming (raised table) on Graingers Lane/Northgate/Station Street junction.
- A signed route for cycles between Upper High Street and the Cradley bus/rail interchange.
