West Bromwich Connected Public Consultation

Closed 19 Jan 2024

Opened 12 Jan 2024

Overview

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is excited to share with you proposals to construct a cycle track between West Bromwich Town Centre and National Cycle Route 5 at Roebuck Lane and Beeches Road along High Street and Birmingham Road. This follows the receipt of funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, called the Towns Fund, as part of the Government’s plan for Levelling Up the UK economy.

It is hoped that the fully segregated cycle route will give residents the confidence to embed cycling and walking into their travel arrangements, which will in turn have positive impacts on air quality and the environment, as well as the health and wellbeing of residents. The route improvements consist of:

  • 1.2km of segregated cycle tracks,
  • Upgraded crossing,
  • Movement and upgrade of bus shelters
  • Adjustment of kerblines.

The consultation takes place from Friday 12th January 2024 to Friday 19th January 2024. A public exhibition will be held at King Square, West Bromwich on saturday 13th January 2024 10.30am to 2.30 pm and Wednesday 17th janaury 2024 12pm to 5pm where Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council officers will be available to discuss the proposed scheme.

We welcome your feedback on these proposed measures.

Please see the document below, which outlines changes to be made, and provides a plan to give a visual representation. Please note that the plan is still a draft and is subject to future amendments.
